While most pet insurance companies require the payment of annual deductibles, Trupanion does not require pet owners to pay deductibles multiple times for the same condition. How it Works
Visit Trupanion's website to enroll your pet for insurance coverage. After enrollment is complete, visit a veterinarian of your choice to complete services for your dog or cat. If your preferred veterinary hospital partners with Trupanion, the veterinarian will submit the invoice and initiate the claim process for you. Trupanion offers Vet Direct Pay which means Trupanion will pay your bill before you leave the veterinarian’s office. You are only responsible for paying 10% of the bill at the time of the services. If your preferred veterinarian is not a Trupanion partner, claims can be submitted online or through email at claims at trupanion.com.
When filing a new claim, remember to include: an itemized invoice, pet’s name, owners name, phone number, email address, veterinary hospital name, veterinarian name, and purpose of the visit. Once the claim is submitted, Trupanion will obtain medical records from your veterinarian, review your policy, and determine claim eligibility. Regardless of whether or not your claim is determined as eligible, customers will be notified via email and online member portal. If the claim is accepted, customers will be paid directly to their bank account or mailed a reimbursement check.

Complaints include a month and a half wait for reimbursement, exorbitant yearly premium increases, and claim denials for services customers believed should have been covered.
